Stockholm, Sweden

Dear Family and Friends,

We boarded our cruise ship in Kiel, Germany last Sunday.  We are on the Costa Pacifica, an Italian cruise line.  Chuck and I are two of only maybe 30 U.S. citizens on this 3,000 passenger boat.  I am sure we are the only passengers from Ecuador.

I will post pictures of our cruise ship in another post.  Today I will share pictures about our first port of call, Stockholm, Sweden.

I love viewing the architecture in foreign countries.  Stockholm was very interesting as you can see here.

One thing we saw a lot of was salmon...fresh and smoked.  It is so nice to be able to have for breakfast every morning on the ship.

If you live or have visited Ecuador you will recognize these knitted finger puppets.  They are made in Ecuador and are sold for about 50 cents each.  At this tourist souvenir kiosk they were being sold for about $2.50 each.  They were not advertised as being from Ecuador.  Lesson learned...tourist beware.

Interesting art on the pedestrian street.   I am not sure what it means...but I was intriqued.

 Colorful church.

In the old part of the city there were many little hidden tunnels that connected streets.

Chuck and I had a nice outdoor lunch.

By the way, Chuck's soccer shirt collection from all over the world has drawn quite a bit of attention.

Here is the national museum.  Beautiful stone building.

We went to see the Vasa, a boat that was built and sunk in the 1600's that has been recently recovered.
It is in surprisingly good condition.

It was a nice day in Stockholm, we just wished we had more time to enjoy the city.

Next stop will be Helsinki, Finland.

Love,
Nancy
