Spain on a Budget - Thrift Store Shopping
Dear Family and Friends,
Chuck and I arrived back home in Cuenca last night. We are so glad to be back home so we can enjoy our friends and sleep in our own bed........ for one week. Yep, that's right...in one week we leave for a six week trip to Spain.
Here is an idea I had. I want to travel to Spain with just one medium size suitcase. I also want to be able to shop for "stuff" while there. I need to be able to dispose of clothes along the way so I can buy "stuff" to bring home. Can't afford to throw away expensive new clothes and we do not have thrift stores in Cuenca, so I decided to buy my travel clothes at thrift stores while we were in the U.S.
After finishing up with our business in Richland, Chuck and I headed back across the mountains to Seattle. Audrey, Chuck's sister, and Carolyn, our sister in law, and I spent a full weekend of heads down thrift store shopping.
Here are some of my finds. Bear in mind when looking at these pictures that the clothes have not been washed or pressed. They are somewhat wrinkled but will look great when I get them clean and pressed.
The above outfits total $79.84. Probably the cost of the Chico shirt and Travel Smith top if they were new.
We have been online watching the temperatures in Spain and have decided that layering will be the way to go.
Mixing and matching our wardrobe to stretch it further.
Well that is about it for the fashion show, I have to get busy washing and ironing.
Love,
Nancy

Busy week in Richland, WA - USA
Dear Family and Friends,
Chuck and I have had a very busy week in Richland. We had a lot of "to do's" which we got accomplished I am happy to report. We also shared time with family and friends.
The picture is of Heidi and Cannon, our grandchildren that live in Richland. My grandma name is "Mimi." How wonderful it is to be with them. They are growing up so fast and are two terrific kids.
Right now Chuck and I are headed back to Seattle. Chuck's sister Audrey is flying up from California to spend the weekend with Chuck's brother's family and with us. Audrey, Carolyn and I have planned a weekend of thrift store power shopping.
When we return to Ecuador, we have one week to pack for our trip to Spain. We leave for Spain on March 1st. It is my goal to shop for our six weeks trip this weekend at the Goodwill, Salvation Army and other thrift stores.
The purpose???? I can throw out clothes as we travel and lighten the load. Also, since I am packing in just one medium size suitcase, if I empty out as I go I can buy some goodies and bring them back.
I will share the shopping adventure and the final results on the next post.
Brrrrr, it is chilly up here.
Have a great day!!
Love,
Nancy

Mary of SOZ has left Cuenca and so have We!
Dear Family and Friends,
On Saturday, February 2, we took Mary to the airport in Cuenca and said goodbye.
We really enjoyed having her visit and look forward to when both Mary and Steve come to Ecuador.
Mary left on Saturday about mid day and bright and early Monday morning, Chuck and I were flying to Guayaquil for our trip to the U.S. Although we were headed to Washington state, Chuck found a great promotional fare on Copa to Chicago. We have been traveling Monday - Wednesday getting ourselves to Richland!
Here it is Thursday morning and we are at our favorite local espresso shop enjoying coffee and the use of free wi-fi. The best part of coming in this morning was having the barrista shout out, "Oh you're back!"
Here is Chuck, hunkered down with his coffee and computer.
Here is sweet Christy. She and Jake run the best coffee shop in Richland, Barracuda's.
My latte tasted just as good as it looks.
We will be in the U.S. for a total of about 2 weeks.
We return to Cuenca with one week to do our laundry, pack, hug our friends and leave for Spain.
More about that later.
Love,
Nancy
