More Travel News Coming Soon

Chuck and I spent a few days in my hometown of Columbus, Georgia. We had a wonderful time visiting relatives. Last Thursday we flew here to Puerto Rico to visit our daughter, Kylie and grandson, Bryce. I have pictures from both legs of this trip but am having difficulty getting them from my camera to the blog.

Chuck and I fly back to Seattle this Wednesday and we will spend the weekend in Seattle at a family picnic.

After we arrive home, I will have the means to get the pictures onto the blog. So you should be able to read and SEE our trip by Tuesday, September 2.

Texas and Minnesota

My brother and sister-in-law left Saturday morning to fly to Copenhagen. They are cruising the Baltic. Chuck and I are staying in Dallas with my mother until they return in two weeks.

It is very hot here - over 100 degrees...so we are looking at what we can do to keep cool.

We went to the Choctaw casino on Monday. Choctaw is a casino located just across the Oklahoma border. My mother loves playing the slots so we decided to take her. It is about 150 miles round trip. We learned that the casino has a bus that provides free transportation from Dallas on the weekdays. We made reservations and off we went. My mother won $475. Good job!!

We decided it was too hot to stay in Dallas. We packed our suitcases and headed for Minnesota on Thursday. Our daughter, son in law and nine grandchildren live in Elk River. It took us two days to get there. We spent Saturday and Sunday visiting them. Then returned back to Dallas, arriving Tuesday evening.

Here is a picture I took of Dallas as we drove out of town.

Mom made the best back seat passenger. She was so happy to be going on a road trip.

We spent Saturday and Sunday in Elk River. We went to the county fair and enjoyed the kids as they enjoyed water activities.

The adult cheering section....whimps we were not to get wet.

Merri and Ken have seven girls and two boys.

This is the youngest.....Raven Leigh. She has grown so much since we saw her in April.

My mom loves little babies and enjoyed holding her very much.

We drove back to Dallas on Monday and Tuesday. We were happy to find that it had cooled down into the 90s.

On Thursday we took the bus back up to Choctaw. None of us brought back any winnings this time.

Here is mom and Chuck clowning around while we waited for the casino bus.

Today is Friday and Norman and Nan are returning from their cruise today.

Sunday, Chuck and I will fly to Georgia to visit family there.

Chinook Pass and Seattle Washington

Last Tuesday, Chuck and I drove to Seattle. We took I85 to Yakima, Washington and then we left the freeway and went to Seattle over the Cascade mountains via Chinook pass. The weather was overcast and a bit on the chilly side. The scenery was excellent.

Just past Yakima in Naches, Washington we stopped at a fruit stand to take some fruit to Chuck's folks.

Chuck inspecting the cherries...

Aplets and Cotlets are a favorite candy treat from this part of Washington. They are made by a company located near Wenatchee Washington. These candies are similar to Turkish Delight.

We stopped along the way and enjoyed the scenery. Too bad we did not have fishing gear.

The wildflowers and mountain scenery was at it's usual best. Fog covered the top of the pass.

We finally made it to Seattle. This is a view from Alki beach looking over the Elliot Bay to the city.

We are now in Dallas, Texas visiting with my mom. The contrast in weather is staggering. It has been over 100 degrees here since we arrived. We will be here for two weeks mother and house sitting while my brother and sister-in-law are on vacation. We will take mom with us to Minnesota to visit our kids and grandkids during these two weeks. I will share that trip with you along the way.
