Chuck and I went by bus from Rotorua to Wellington which is at the south tip of the north island of New Zealand.
We had a day to kill in Wellington before taking a ferry across the Cook Strait to the south island.
We decided to spend the day by getting some exercise and enjoying the beautiful weather. So we took the cable car to the top for a wonderful view of the city and then we walked back down via the city botanical garden.
This is the cable car we rode up. You can see the water and city of Wellington below.
Before heading back down we toured the cable car museum.
We then started our trek down through the garden.
One area was covered with hydrangeas. They were just past their prime but were still very pretty.
We even stopped and watched part of a cricket match.
The rose garden was beautiful.
Inside the hothouse we saw begonias. They were huge, perfect and in every color imaginable.
When we arrived back into town we had an early dinner and called it a day.
Yesterday was a traveling day. We took the morning ferry to Picton, a town at the north of the south island. We got off the ferry and spent the afternoon riding the train from there to Christchurch.
This morning we get our rental car and the driving adventure begins. When I say adventure, I mean a real adventure.....driving on the opposite side of the road.
Love,
Nancy
When I grow up, I want to travel like you!
