Dear Family and Friends,
We have been looking forward to this part of the trip since before we left Ecuador.
This was not an easy place to get to. We had to take a boat across a big lake (45 min), then we were met by a bus that took us to Doubtful Sound where we got on a boat to cruise the water way.
We were fortunate to get this sneak preview of the sound from above. Even though it is called a sound, it is actually a fiord.
When we arrived at the sound, there were several boats tied up.
The scenery was not disappointing
The boat pulled up close to a huge rock covered with fur seals.
Here are a couple of fellas playing in the water.
Another huge rock was covered with white birds.
We went close to the shoreline. The vegetation was so rich and the rocks so colorful.
We had a wonderful adventure.
Day after tomorrow we will be doing Milford Sound, which is famous for it's spectacular waterfalls.
Tomorrow is down day and laundry day.
Love,
Nancy
