No Basque Hat for Chuck

Dear Family and Friends,

The part of Spain where we spent last week is known as Basque Country.  The Basque people speak their own language which is different from Spanish.  Street signs, restaurant menus and flyers were all in Basque.  Lucky for us they translate these items into Spanish.

Just as we did when first exposed to Spanish, we learned to recognize the Basque word for tapas, beer, bathroom.  The important words don't you know.

Anyway, the Basque men have a type of hat that they wear.  It is known as a Basque hat.  It is almost a French beret but when you see it closely it is different.  This hat is very unique to Basque country.

Here are some photos I nabbed.

I really liked these hats and wanted Chuck to buy one.   I finally talked him into trying one on in the department store........but he said he preferred his Panama Hat thank you.

Love,
Nancy
